New York State Route 15 (1924–1939)
New York State Route 96 (NY 96) is a northwest–southeast state highway in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. The southern terminus of the route is at an interchange with I-86 in the Southern Tier village of Owego, Tioga County. Its northern terminus is at a junction with East Main Street in the city of Rochester, Monroe County. Between the two endpoints, NY 96 passes through the city of Ithaca and the villages of Waterloo, Victor, and Pittsford. NY 96 is signed north–south for its entire length, although most of the route in Ontario County travels in an east–west direction. All of NY 96, except from Candor to Ithaca and from northwest of Victor to Pittsford, was originally designated as part of New York State Route 15 in 1924. Interstate 86 (Pennsylvania–New York)
Interstate 86 (I-86) is an Interstate Highway that extends for through northwestern Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier region of New York, in the United States. The highway has two segments: the longer of the two begins at an interchange with I-90 east of Erie, Pennsylvania, and ends at New York State Route 26 (NY 26) in Vestal, New York in Broome County, while the second extends from I-81 east of Binghamton to NY 79 in Windsor. When projects to upgrade the existing NY 17 to Interstate Highway standards are completed, I-86 will extend from I-90 near Erie to the New York State Thruway (I-87) in Woodbury. The portion in Erie County, Pennsylvania, is known as the Hopkins-Bowser Highway and is signed as such at each end. Spencer is a village located in the Town of Spencer in Tioga County, New York, United States. The population was 759 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Binghamton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town and village are named after Judge Ambrose Spencer. The Village of Spencer is located in the center of the town and is south of Ithaca. New York State Route 2 (NY 2) is a state highway in the Capital District of New York in the United States. It extends for from an interchange with Interstate 87 (I-87) and NY 7 in the town of Colonie to the Massachusetts state line in Petersburgh, where it continues to Boston as Massachusetts Route 2. The route passes through the cities of Watervliet and Troy, where it connects to NY 32 and U.S. Route 4, respectively. In Grafton, located midway between Troy and Massachusetts, NY 2 serves Grafton Lakes State Park. Most of the route was originally designated as part of an unsigned legislative route in the 1910s. New York State Route 96B (NY 96B) is a north–south state highway in the Southern Tier of New York in the United States. It connects NY 96 in the village of Candor in Tioga County to NY 13, NY 34, and NY 96 in the city of Ithaca in Tompkins County. Candor (village), New York
Candor is a village located in the Town of Candor in Tioga County, New York, United States. The population was 851 Candorlorians as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Binghamton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Village of Candor is centrally located in the town and is south of Ithaca. History The first settlers arrived around 1794. In 1813 a fire burned much of the community. The source and meaning of the village name is not known.
