William Hale (Wyoming Politician)
William Hale (November 18, 1837 – January 13, 1885) was an American politician from Iowa. Hale served as Governor of Wyoming Territory from 1882 until his death in 1885. Early years Hale was born in New London, a community in Henry County, Iowa. Hale attended public school. He was admitted to the bar association when he was twenty-one years old, and began to practice law. Political life In 1868, Hale became a member of the Republican Party and was a presidential elector from Iowa in that year's election. He served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1863 to 1866. Several years later, on July 18, 1882, U.S. President Chester A. Arthur appointed Hale Governor of Wyoming Territory. Hale was sworn into office on August 3, 1882. Silas Reynolds Barton
Silas Reynolds Barton (May 21, 1872 – November 7, 1916) was an American politician. A Republican, he represented Nebraska's 5th congressional district for one term in the United States House of Representatives. Biography Barton was born in New London, Iowa on May 21, 1872, the son of Eli B. Barton and Teressa (Nugen) Barton. He moved with his parents to Hamilton County, Nebraska in 1873, and graduated from Aurora High School. He attended Peru State College. He married Adah Michell and had two children who died in infancy. After his first wife's death in 1909, he married Ellen Tazwell Metcalfe. His son, Silas Barton Jr., died in 1964 at age 50 and is buried at Forest Lawn. Career Barton was a farmer and teacher. From 1898 until 1901, he was the deputy treasurer of Hamilton County.
