New Fane, Wisconsin
New Fane is an unincorporated community in the Town of Auburn in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, United States. The community is located in the heart of the northern unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The community is located on County Road S and DD. History The first settler to the area was Andrew Eble, who came from Milwaukee in 1855 and built a sawmill on the East Branch of the Milwaukee River. He gave his name to the community known as Ebleville before he died in an accidental shooting in 1859. At around the same time, a neighboring area was settled by people from Newfane, New York, and were granted a post office in 1852. In 1875, the New Fane post office was moved to Ebleville, and this area became known as New Fane. The post office was eventually removed in 1909. In 1859, the first Lutheran church services were held in the community, and a congregation was formed in 1861. Newfane, New York
Newfane is a town in Niagara County, New York, United States. The population was 9,666 at the 2010 census. The name was suggested by an early settler. The Town of Newfane is in the north-central part of the county, north of the City of Lockport. History The Town of Newfane was established in 1824 by Wesley R. Rupert and others it is made up of parts of the Towns of Hartland, Somerset, and Wilson. The first town meeting was held at the Van Horn Mansion in 1824. At one time, the community was known as "Charlotte" and "Charlottesville," but then was renamed Newfane ("New Fane" = "New Church"). Its school district includes an Early Childhood Center, Elementary school, Middle School, and one High School. The school's mascot is a panther. Kettle Moraine State Forest
The Kettle Moraine State Forest is a state forest in southeastern Wisconsin. The chief feature of the reserve is the Kettle Moraine, a highly glaciated area. The area contains very hilly terrain and glacial landforms, such as kettles, kames and eskers. The forest is divided into two large and three small units, which are spread across a hundred miles. The forest includes of hiking trails, almost of cross-country ski trails, of equestrian trails, of snowmobile trails, of off-road bicycle trails including of singletrack trail, and 750 campsites. All units include a portion of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and most units have horse/snowmobile trails.
