New Broughton, Wrexham
New Broughton ( standard ; sometimes ; ) is a former industrial village located in Wrexham, North Wales. It is part of the wider Broughton local government community, and is situated between Southsea (to the North) and Caego (to the South). Still widely regarded a working-class area, in recent years, new housing estates have been built and attracted more middle-class families, who tend to live just outside the village, on the hill. Description New Broughton lies on the north‐facing slopes of the Gwenfro valley, two kilometres south-west of Wrexham city centre and contiguous with the settlements of Southsea and Caego. Administratively it forms the eastern half of the Broughton community and is represented on Wrexham County Borough Council within the Bryn Cefn electoral division. Broughton is a Community (Wales), community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It has an area of 469 hectares and had a population of 6,498 in the United Kingdom Census 2001, 2001 census, increasing to 7,454 at the 2011 Census. Clwyd South () is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of nine constituencies in the North Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to nine constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. Clwyd South () was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (Westminster). The constituency was created in 1997, and it elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post method of election. The Clwyd South Senedd constituency was created with the same boundaries in 1999 (as an Assembly constituency). The constituency was abolished as part of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies and under the June 2023 final recommendations of the Boundary Commission for Wales. Southsea is a seaside resort and a geographic area of Portsmouth, Portsea Island in the ceremonial county of Hampshire, England. Caego is a village in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, immediately to the west of the city of Wrexham in the community of Broughton.
