Netsplit
In computer networking, specifically Internet Relay Chat (IRC), netsplit is a disconnection between two servers. A split between any two servers splits the entire network into two pieces. Cause and effects Consider the graph to the right, which represents the computer network. Each line represents an established connection. Therefore, the server ''C'' is connected directly to ''A'', which is also connected to ''B'' and ''D''. If a disruption in the connection between ''C'' and ''A'' occurs, the connection may be terminated as a result. This can occur either by a Unix domain socket, socket producing an error, or by excessive Network latency, lag in which the far server ''A'' anticipates this case (which is called a timeout). A Unix domain socket (UDS), a.k.a. local socket, a.k.a. inter-process communication (IPC) socket, is a communication endpoint for exchanging data between processes executing in the same Unix or Unix-like operating system. The name, ''Unix domain socket'', refers to the domain argument value AF_UNIX that is passed to the function that creates a socket system resource. The NetBurst microarchitecture, called P68 inside Intel, was the successor to the P6 microarchitecture in the x86 family of central processing units (CPUs) made by Intel. The first CPU to use this architecture was the Willamette-core Pentium 4, released on November 20, 2000 and the first of the Pentium 4 CPUs; all subsequent Pentium 4 and Pentium D variants have also been based on NetBurst. In mid-2001, Intel released the ''Foster'' core, which was also based on NetBurst, thus switching the Xeon CPUs to the new architecture as well.
