Nestor, San Diego
Nestor is a residential neighborhood in the southern section of San Diego, California, part of the Otay Mesa-Nestor community planning area. It neighbors Palm City and Otay Mesa West to the east, Egger Highlands to the north, San Ysidro to the southeast and the Tijuana River Valley to the south. Major thoroughfares include Coronado Avenue, Saturn Boulevard, Hollister Street, and Tocayo Avenue. History Nestor is named for Nestor A. Young, California state assemblyman from 1884 to 1886 and San Diego harbormaster from 1889. The community began as farming community of Japanese Americans. Nestor, along with other portions of South San Diego, was annexed from San Diego County in 1957. Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) is a school district headquartered in Chula Vista, California. The union high school district serves over 42,000 high school-aged students and over 32,000 adult learners. Southwest Senior High School
Southwest High School (SOH) is a public high school in San Diego, California, United States. It was established in 1975. It was built on the site of a small railroad yard owned by the Southern Pacific Railroad along the original San Diego–Tijuana line. It existed until the mid-1930s when the tracks were moved east to the present-day trolley tracks. Part of Sweetwater Union High School District, it serves all socioeconomic communities of San Diego (specifically the Nestor community), as well as some students living in Chula Vista, Imperial Beach and San Ysidro. The school serves approximately 1,750 students. Seventh-day Adventist Church
The Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) is an Adventist Protestant Christian denomination which is distinguished by its observance of Saturday, the seventh day of the week in the Christian (Gregorian) and the Hebrew calendar, as the Sabbath, its emphasis on the imminent Second Coming (advent) of Jesus Christ, and its annihilationist soteriology. South Bay Salt Works
The South Bay Salt Works is a salt factory in southern San Diego, California, San Diego near Chula Vista, California, Chula Vista, in the South Bay, San Diego, South Bay region of San Diego County, California. Initially operating under the name La Punta Salt Works operations dating back to at least 1871, for a period of time it was the sole supplier of salt for Southern California. In 1902 it was purchased and renamed Western Salt Company, and later had narrow-gauge rail installed. During the rest of the 20th century, it was California's second-largest salt producer. The land was purchased by the San Diego International Airport, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority in 1999 and transferred to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
