Chua Jim Neo
Chua Jim Neo (; 1905 – 7 August 1980) was a Singaporean chef and cookbook writer best known for ''Mrs. Lee's Cookbook'', which preserves the recipes of Peranakan cuisine. Chua was also the mother of Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister of Singapore and the paternal grandmother of Lee Hsien Loong, the third Prime Minister of Singapore. Biography Chua was born in Singapore in 1905 to Chua Kim Teng, a wealthy local businessman, and Liong A Soen (aka Neo Ah Soon), a Chinese Indonesian of Hakka people, Hakka descent who hailed from Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia). While her father was born in Singapore, her paternal grandfather came from a Hokkien people, Hokkien Peranakan family in Malacca, Malaysia with ancestry from Haicheng, Fujian, Haicheng, Zhangzhou, Fujian. Gen Neo ( zh, s=梁根荣; ; born June 18, 1989), is a Singaporean singer-songwriter, producer and composer based in South Korea, under BAMM Entertainment. Early life Gen Neo was born on June 18, 1989, in Singapore. He attended Catholic High School and Victoria Junior College before moving to South Korea to become a producer and composer. Gen attended Berklee College of Music where he met his frequent collaborator and close friend, Henry Lau. Career Gen started his music career in South Korea as part of a production team called NoizeBank, consisting of Canadian musician Henry Lau, and producers Isaac Han and Neil Nallas. Neo Harrison Masithela (born 20 March 1966) is a South African politician and businessman who served in the Executive Council of the Free State from 2005 to 2009. Before that, he represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2005. As of 2022, he was the chairperson of the African Farmers Association of South Africa. Neo Ntsoma (born 27 December 1972) is a South African photographer known for her photojournalism, portraiture, music and popular culture photography. Born in Vryburg and brought up in the rural areas of Mafikeng in the North West Province, her fascination about films was triggered at an early age. Growing up in the apartheid era and seeing the negative portrayal images of black South Africans and the lack of participation of black women in a media industry dominated by white males, this reinvigorated her to want to make change, however it was not an easy dream to fulfill due to race restrictions at the time. Neo Rauch (; born 18 April 1960) is a German artist whose paintings mine the intersection of his personal history with the politics of industrial alienation. His work reflects the influence of socialist realism, and owes a debt to Surrealists Giorgio de Chirico and René Magritte, although Rauch hesitates to align himself with surrealism.
