Nelson Abadía
Nelson Abadía Aragón (born 5 June 1956) is a Colombian football manager. From 2017 until 31 August 2023, he served as manager of the Colombia women's team. He is the father of footballer Mario Abadía. Managerial career At the end of the 1990s, Abadía managed the "B" team of América de Cali in Categoría Primera C organized by Difutbol. There, he was in charge of several players who turned professional such as Sandro Zuluaga, Alex del Castillo and Róbinson Zapata. In 2004, Abadía was appointed by the Panamanian football club Tauro F.C. By 2005, the team was within 3 points of playing in the finals. In 2006, he managed the now defunct Centauros Villavicencio in Categoría Primera B. In 2008, he managed Patriotas Boyacá who were 6 points away from playing in the Primera B final. The Women's football tournament at the 2019 Pan American Games was held in Lima during July and August 2019. Qualification A total of eight women's teams qualified to compete at the games, four CONMEBOL teams and four CONCACAF teams. For CONMEBOL, the three teams ranked third to fifth at the 2018 Copa América Femenina qualified, while Peru automatically qualified as hosts. Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is the second-division association football, football league in Colombia. The tournament was inaugurated on 29 January 1991. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season.
