Nehru Maidan or Oil India Ground is a multi-purpose sport stadium used mostly for football matches, located in Duliajan, Assam. The ground is owned and managed by Oil India. Duliajan is an industrial city of Dibrugarh district in the Indian state of Assam located in the upper north-east corner of India.It is about 45 km east of Dibrugarh City. It is particularly known for its oil related industry, Oil India Limited, one of the country's largest oil and gas companies. There is also other central government owned companies like B.C.P.L. GDU Station, N.E.E.P.C.O., D.N.P.L., LPG Plant and the Shivani company which is India's largest private company for drilling. Oil India Football Club, also known as Oil India Limited FC or simply Oil India FC, is an Indian institutional football club based in Duliajan, Assam. The club was founded by Oil India in 1964. It also participated in I-League 2nd Division, then second tier football tournament of Indian football league system, for three seasons. Oil India FC was nominated by the Assam Football Association for 2021 I-League Qualifiers, but didn't make it to the final list approved by the AIFF. The Assam State Premier League (ASPL) is the state-level football league in the Indian state of Assam. It is the highest state-level football league in Assam organised by the Assam Football Association, currently contested by 8 clubs. History Assam State Premier League inaugural edition of the league started in 2008 with Assam Rifles winning its first title. After some years in 2015 the league was discontinued. Dibrugarh district (Pron:ˌdɪbru:ˈgor:) is a district in the state of Assam in India. The district headquarters are located within the city of Dibrugarh. Etymology Dibrugarh derived its name from Dibarumukh (as a renowned encampment of Ahoms during the Ahom-Chutia war). Either the name “Dibru” evolved from Dibaru river or from the Tibeto Burman word “Dibru” which means a “blister” and “Garh” meaning "fort".
