Native Son
''Native Son'' (1940) is a novel written by the American author Richard Wright. It tells the story of 20-year-old Bigger Thomas, a black youth living in utter poverty in a poor area on Chicago's South Side in the 1930s. While not apologizing for Bigger's crimes, Wright portrays a systemic causation behind them. Bigger's lawyer, Boris Max, makes the case that there is no escape from this destiny for his client or any other black American since they are the necessary product of the society that formed them and told them since birth who exactly they were supposed to be. "No American Negro exists", James Baldwin once wrote, "who does not have his private Bigger Thomas living in his skull." ''Walk the Sky'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band Alter Bridge, released on October 18, 2019 via Napalm Records. It was produced by the band's longtime collaborator Michael Baskette, who has produced all of the band's albums since 2007's '' Blackbird''. The album's first single, "Wouldn't You Rather", was released on June 28, 2019. A second single, "Pay No Mind", was released on July 25, 2019, with four further singles, "Take the Crown", "In the Deep", "Dying Light", and "Godspeed" later released. The Toronto Native Sons were a Canadian junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) from 1933 until 1942. They played at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. Prior to moving up to the OHA, the team played in the Toronto Junior Hockey League and were coached by Harold Cotton. The Native Sons were league finalists in 1938–39 for the J. Ross Robertson Cup, losing in three games to the Oshawa Generals. Five alumni of the Native Sons graduated to play in the National Hockey League. The Nickel Centre Native Sons were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Garson, Ontario, Canada. This defunct hockey team was a part of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League History The Native Sons originated in the NOHA Jr. B League. In their time in the league, Nickel Centre won two McNamara Cups as league champions, 1979 and 1987. In 1987, the team did something that no other NOJHL team was able to do. After winning the NOJHL, the Power Trains took on the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League Champion Owen Sound Greys for the right to play for the Dudley Hewitt Cup. The Native Sons Lacrosse Club were an American and Iroquois Senior "B" box lacrosse team from Irving, New York. The team played their home games at Cattaraugus Community Center and were affiliated with the Senaca Nation of Indians. Native Sons competed in the Can-Am League, sanctioned by First Nations Lacrosse Association. Native Sons Junior affiliate were the Seneca WarChiefs of First Nations Junior B Lacrosse League. The Warchiefs continue play despite Native Sons no longer being active. History Formed in 2015, Native Sons were welcomed to the league by losing four of their first five games. The remaining portion of their Can-Am season was another story as the Sons finished 11–5 (third place) in their first season. ''The Complete U2'' is a digital box set by Irish rock band U2. It was released on 23 November 2004 by Apple Computer on the iTunes Store. It is the first major release of a purely digital online set by any artist. It contained the complete set of U2 albums, singles, live, rare and previously unreleased material from 1978 to 2004, with a total of 446 songs. This was accompanied by a PDF containing album art, track listings, and band commentary. In the US it originally retailed for $149.99, but a $50 coupon was included with the U2 Special Edition iPods from the fourth-generation iPod.
