National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) is a premier institute in India engaged in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research in natural sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities. It was founded by J. R. D. Tata for providing an avenue for administrators, managers and social leaders for interaction and exchange of information with notable academics in the areas of science, arts and humanities. Raja Ramanna
Raja Ramanna (28 January 1925 – 24 September 2004) was an Indian nuclear physicist. He was the director of India and weapons of mass destruction, India's nuclear program in the late 1960s and early 1970s, which culminated in Smiling Buddha, India's first successful nuclear weapon Nuclear weapons testing, test on 18 May 1974. Ramanna obtained his bachelors in Physics at Madras University and PhD from King's College, London. Balachandra Rao (Devanagari: बालचंद्र राव; 24 December 1944 – 14 May 2025) was an Indian mathematician at National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bangalore. The Bharat Ratna (; ) is the highest Indian honours system, civilian award of the Republic of India.
