National Football League Second Division (India)
The National Football League Second Division (NFL 2nd Division) was the men's second-tier of the Indian football league system from 1997 to 2007. Founded by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in 1997, the NFL was the inaugural second division football league in India to be organized on a national scale. The NFL Second Division was eventually replaced by the I-League 2nd Division for the 2007–08 season. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in most countries and territories in Asia. The AFC was formed in 1954. It has 47 members. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC that managed women's association football in Asia. The group was independently founded in April 1968 in a meeting involving Taiwan, British Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. In 1986, ALFC merged with AFC. Border Security Force Sporting Club is an Indian multi-sports club best known for its football team. The club is based in Jalandhar, Punjab, and currently competing in the Punjab State Super Football League. They are one of the dominating teams in Durand Cup and Independence Day Cup of Assam. BSF's corporate team competed in All India Public Sector tournament. History The team is well known for winning the prestigious Durand Cup on seven occasions during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Legendary player Sukhwinder Singh represented the club from 1974 to 1978. Diphu () is a town in the Karbi Anglong district of the state of Assam, India. It is the meeting place of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and the headquarter of Karbi Anglong district. Etymology The word ''Diphu'' came from Dimasa language, 'Di' stand for 'clear liquid/water', and 'Phu' stand for 'to pass through', meaning a place where 'clear river pass through'.
