National Basketball League (Singapore)
The National Basketball League (NBL) is the first-tier basketball league in Singapore. It was established in 2011 and founded by the Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS). The league currently exists out of twelve teams. The champions of each season are eligible to play in the qualifying rounds of the Basketball Champions League Asia. Siglap Basketball Club and Engtat Hornets hold the record for most championships with three each. Basketball Association Of Singapore
The Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) is the governing body of basketball in Singapore. History Basketball was introduced to Singapore as early as 1925 and was played in schools. The Singapore Basketball and Volleyball Association was established in 1934 to further promote the sport and the organization was responsible for organizing the Malaysia and Singapore Basketball Championship. The association was later replaced in 1939 by the Chinese Sports Improvement Council, which was considered by the Basketball Association of Singapore to be the first instance of its organization. After the resolution of the World War II in 1946 which affected the promotion of basketball, Goh Chye Hin set up the Singapore Amateur Basketball Association (SABA). The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is a professional basketball league in North America that serves as the developmental league of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The league comprises 31 teams; as of the 2024–25 season, all are single-affiliated or owned by an NBA team except for the independent Mexico City Capitanes. The league was founded in 2001 as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL), renamed the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) in 2005. It received its present name in 2017 under a deal with Gatorade, becoming the first U.S. professional sports league named for an advertiser. The Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia), formerly the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, is an annual continental club men's basketball competition organised by FIBA Asia. Adroit Sports Association, also known simply as Adroit or Singapore Adroit, is a semi-professional basketball team in Singapore. The team plays in the National Basketball League since 2013, and has won the championship in 2014, 2023 & 2024. Singapore Xin Hua Sports Club
The Singapore Xin Hua Sports Club is a semi-professional football team that currently competes in the Singapore National Football League Division 2. It was founded in 1911 as a local football organisation in Singapore which was initially set up to promote football amongst the Chinese community in colonial Singapore. History In 1911, the Straits Chinese of Singapore formed the Straits Chinese Football Association (SCFA). The various Straits Chinese clubs in Singapore who already had a football team were in the SCFA while all other clubs were encouraged to join.
