Nass Valley
The Nass River is a river in northern British Columbia, Canada. It flows from the Coast Mountains southwest to Nass Bay, a sidewater of Portland Inlet, which connects to the North Pacific Ocean via the Dixon Entrance. Nass Bay joins Portland Inlet just south of Observatory Inlet. The English name "Nass" is derived from the Tlingit people, Tlingit name ''Naas'' which means "intestines" or "guts" in reference to the river's large food capacity in its fish (Naish & Story 1963; Leer, Hitch, & Ritter 2001). Can also be a Tlingit word for "food depot". Former spellings are Naas and Nasse. The Nisga'a name for the river is ''K'alii Aksim Lisims'' "Lisims (river name) Valley". The Gitxsan name is ''Git-Txaemsim'' meaning People of Txeemsim (Raven or Trickster); ''Xsitxemsem'' in the dialect of the Gitanyow). Lava is molten or partially molten rock (magma) that has been expelled from the interior of a terrestrial planet (such as Earth) or a Natural satellite, moon onto its surface. Ksi Sii Aks
The Ksi Sii Aks (; formerly gazetted as the Tseax River ) is a tributary of the Nass River in northwestern British Columbia, Canada. It is most notable as the namesake of Tseax Cone, a volcano within its basin that was responsible for an eruption in the 17th century that killed 2,000 Nisgaʼa people. Prior to the eruption, the Nisgaʼa name for this river was . Buried by the eruption, it eventually resurfaced. The Nisgaʼa recognized it as the same stream but renamed it Ksi Sii Aks: means "new body of water". Lower Vetter Creek, just west of Ksi Sii Aks, was also buried by lava from Tseax Cone. Both flow through Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Provincial Park as they near their confluences with the Nass River. As prescribed by terms of the Nisgaʼa Treaty, the Tseax River was officially renamed the Ksi Sii Aks on 11 May 2000. Vetter Creek is a tributary of the Nass River in the northern part of the province of British Columbia, Canada.
