Alirio Napoleón MacÃas was a Roman Catholic priest in El Salvador who was assassinated on 4 August 1979. He served under Archbishop Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez. Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez (15 August 1917 – 24 March 1980) was a prelate of the Catholic Church in El Salvador. He served as Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Salvador, Archdiocese of San Salvador, the Titular Bishop of Tambeae, as Roman Catholic Diocese of Santiago de MarÃa, Bishop of Santiago de MarÃa, and finally as the fourth Archbishop of San Salvador.
