Nadroga (Open Constituency, Fiji)
Nadroga Open is a former electoral division of Fiji, one of 25 open constituencies that were elected by universal suffrage (the remaining 46 seats, called communal constituencies, were allocated by ethnicity). Established by the 1997 Constitution of Fiji, 1997 Constitution, it came into being in 1999 and was used for the Elections in Fiji, parliamentary elections of 1999 Fijian general election, 1999, 2001 Fijian general election, 2001, and 2006 Fijian general election, 2006. It was located in the southern part of the main island of Viti Levu. The 2013 Constitution of Fiji, 2013 Constitution promulgated by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Military-backed interim government abolished all constituencies and established a form of proportional representation, with the entire country voting as a single electorate. Mosese Volavola
Mosese Volavola (born 6 June 1979 in Lautoka, Fiji) is a Fijian rugby union footballer. He plays as a Flanker or as a Lock. His nickname is Mo or Moji. Volavola is 6 feet 3 inches (190 cm) tall and weighs 224 pounds (99 kg). He was born in Lautoka Hospital but now lives in Nadroga. He played for the Ravuka Sharks Club in Nadroga and from there he got picked for the Nadroga team to play in the Digicel Cup competition in 2004. He played for the Coastal Stallions in the Colonial Cup. He had a superb season with Nadroga in 2004 and an outstanding game in the Telecom Fiji Cup final to earn a place in the Fiji team. Mesulame Rakuro
Mesulame Rakuro (12 May 1932 – 13 June 1969) was a Fijian athlete specialising in the discus throw and shot put. Biography Born in Nailaga, Ba Province, Rakuro was a teacher. New Labour Unity Party
The New Labour Unity Party was a Fijian political party, which broke away from the Fiji Labour Party in May 2001. It was founded by Tupeni Baba, a former Deputy Prime Minister and Labour Party stalwart, who had become dissatisfied with Mahendra Chaudhry's leadership and expressed fears that if Chaudhry, who had been deposed in the Fiji coup of 2000, returned as Prime Minister, there could be another coup. Other prominent Fijians associated with the party included ''Ratu'' Meli Vesikula. In the parliamentary election of 2001, the New Labour Unity Party called for the strengthening of the independence of the judiciary, which had been undermined by government defiance. The United Fiji Party ( fj, Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua, SDL) was a political party in Fiji. It was founded in 2001 by Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase as a power base; it absorbed most of the Christian Democratic Alliance and other conservative groups, and its endorsement by the Great Council of Chiefs ''(Bose Levu Vakaturaga)'' caused it to be widely seen as the successor to the Alliance Party, the former ruling party that had dominated Fijian politics from the 1960s to the 1980s. National Federation Party
The National Federation Party is a Fijian political party founded by A.D. Patel in November 1968, as a merger of the Federation Party and the National Democratic Party. Though it claimed to represent all Fiji Islanders, it was supported, in practice, almost exclusively by Indo-Fijians whose ancestors had come to Fiji between 1879 and 1916, mostly as indentured labourers. However, in the 2018 general election, the party recorded a considerable change in its support base due to the inclusion of more indigenous Fijian candidates. An adit (from Latin ''aditus'', entrance) is an entrance to an underground mine which is horizontal or nearly horizontal, by which the mine can be entered, drained of water, ventilated, and minerals extracted at the lowest convenient level. Fijian Association Party
The Fijian Association Party (FAP) is a former political party in Fiji. It played a significant role in Fijian politics throughout the 1990s, but lost all of its seats in the House of Representatives in the parliamentary election of 2001. The FAP was founded in 1994 by Josefata Kamikamica, head of the Native Land Trust Board and a former Minister of Finance. Following the parliamentary election of 1992, Kamikamica and five of his supporters had left the Soqosoqo ni Vakavulewa ni Taukei of Sitiveni Rabuka and unsuccessfully challenged him for the Prime Ministership, attempting to build a coalition government with the Indo-Fijian opposition.
