2021–22 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 2021–22 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 41st official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season began on 26 November 2021 in Ruka, Finland and was scheduled to conclude with the World Cup Finals on 18–20 March 2022 in Tyumen, Russia. But after the Russian invasion of Ukraine FIS announced that the World Cup Finals would be cancelled or moved. As a result, the final competition was the mixed team events on 13 March 2022 in Falun, Sweden. The season featured a break in February for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. On 1 March 2022, following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIS decided to exclude athletes from Russia and Belarus from FIS competitions, with an immediate effect. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2023
The 43rd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were held from 21 February to 5 March 2023 in Planica, Slovenia. Championships Slovenia hosted the Nordic World Championships for the first time. All competitions took place at the Planica Nordic Centre, located in the Planica monument valley. Host selection The World Championships were awarded at the 51st Fédération Internationale de Ski, FIS Congress, held between 13 and 19 May 2018 in Costa Navarino, Greece. Planica's bids to host the championships had been unsuccessful on three previous occasions. The detailed application had to be submitted by 1 September 2017. The Swiss Olympic Association is the National Olympic Committee and the umbrella organisation for organised Swiss sport under private law. It has 104 members (81 national sports federations and 23 partner organisations), to which some two million people belong, practising sports in about 19,000 clubs. 2022–23 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 2022–23 FIS Cross-Country World Cup, organized by the International Ski Federation was the 42nd World Cup in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season started on 25 November 2022 in Ruka, Finland and concluded on 26 March 2023 in Lahti, Finland. The season featured a break in February and March for the World Championships in Planica. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo from Norway and Natalya Nepryayeva from Russia were the defending overall champions from the 2021–22 season. Nepryayeva couldn't defend her title because of the decision of the FIS Council, that Russia and Belarus have been suspended for this World Cup season due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Klæbo defended the title and won his fourth World Cup title. Women's overall victory award went to Norwegian Tiril Udnes Weng for the first time.
