NEMA connectors are AC power plugs and sockets, power plugs and sockets used for alternating current, AC mains electricity in North America and other countries that use the standards set by the US National Electrical Manufacturers Association. NEMA Enclosure Types
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) defines standards used in North America for various grades of electrical enclosures typically used in industrial applications. Each is rated to protect against personal access to hazardous parts, and additional type-dependent designated environmental conditions. A typical NEMA enclosure might be rated to provide protection against environmental hazards such as water, dust, oil or coolant or atmospheres containing corrosive agents such as acetylene or gasoline. NEMA Wattage Label
NEMA wattage labels are standardized labels defined by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) used on street lighting fixtures to indicate the wattage of the lamp for maintenance purposes. Additionally, various colors are used to identify what type of lamp the fixture uses. A yellow sticker indicates the lamp is a sodium vapor lamp (HPS/LPS). A blue sticker indicates the lamp is mercury vapor (MV). A red sticker indicates the lamp is metal halide (MH). A sticker that is half-red and half-white indicates a pulse start metal halide lamp (PSMH). Green is also used on HPS units in Canada. Gray indicates that the fixture is of an LED type.
