The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) is an Indian non-governmental trade association and advocacy group, focused mainly on the technology industry of India. Established in 1988, NASSCOM is a non-profit organisation. NASSCOM is the apex body for the US$ 227 billion Indian technology industry. Events In 2013, NASSCOM initiated a program promoting 10,000 startups in India by 2023. NASSCOM sponsors events targeting startups in India. Information Technology In India
The information technology industry in India comprises information technology services, consulting, and outsourcing. The share of the IT-BPM sector in the GDP of India is 7.4% in FY 2022. The IT and BPM industries' revenue is estimated at $227 billion in FY 2022. The domestic revenue of the IT industry is estimated at $49 billion, and export revenue is estimated at $178 billion in FY 2022. The IT–BPM sector overall employs 5 million people as of March 2022. The Indian IT–BPM industry has the highest employee attrition rate. In recent years the industry has been witnessing skyrocketing resignations cutting across hierarchy. As a global outsourcing hub, the Indian IT industry benefits from lower cost of living and the consequent cheaper labour. UB Pravin Rao
U. B. Pravin Rao is a retired corporate executive from Infosys. Rao joined Infosys in 1985 and rose through the ranks under N. R. Narayana Murthy. He was handpicked by Murthy to be member of Infosys board as well as become chief operating officer by Murthy in June 2014, when Vishal Sikka was appointed as CEO. Rao served as interim CEO and MD after Vishal Sikka stepped down till appointment of Salil Parekh as CEO and MD on 2 December 2017. He retired from Infosys as chief operating officer in December 2021. He is a member of the National Council of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Executive Council of Nasscom. Rishad Premji
Rishad Premji is the son of the Wipro head Azim Premji and was named as the successor of his father. He was until recently the Chief Strategy Officer at Wipro and has taken over as Chairman of Wipro in July 2019. He was the Chairman of NASSCOM for the year 2018–19. Early and personal life Rishad was a student of Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and later did a bachelor's degree in Economics from Wesleyan University and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
