Brett Myers
Brett Allen Myers (born August 17, 1980) is an American singer and former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, Chicago White Sox, and Cleveland Indians. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Myers began his baseball career at the high school level. From there he progressed to the professional ranks and made his debut in 2002 for the Phillies. He pitched with the Phillies from 2002 to 2009, mostly as a starter, but also closed for a time. He was a World Series champion in 2008 with the Phillies over the Tampa Bay Rays. Myers, is an American professor of international studies at Dongseo University in Busan, South Korea, best known for his writings on North Korean propaganda. Andrew John Myers (born 3 November 1973) is an English football coach and former professional footballer who is a loan player technical coach at Premier League club Chelsea. As a player, he was a defender notably in the Premier League with Chelsea and Bradford City. He also played in the Football League for Colchester United, Brentford and Portsmouth. Benjamin Myers (born January 1976) is an English writer and journalist. Early life Myers grew up in Belmont, County Durham, and was a pupil at the estate's local comprehensive school where he become interested in reading and skateboarding. Myers attended his first concert in Durham in March 1990, when he was fourteen. Headlined by Steadfast, it led to him forming the punk rock band Sour Face the next year. The band quickly became involved in the Durham hardcore punk scene, alongside Steadfast, False Face and XdisciplineX. Despite being one of the few bands in the scene that was not straight edge, Sour Face became the mascots of the scene, with their third performance seeing them open for NOFX. Alan Myers (December 29, 1954 – June 24, 2013) was an American rock drummer whose music career spanned more than 30 years. He came to prominence in the late 1970s as the third and most prominent drummer of the new wave band Devo, replacing Jim Mothersbaugh. Early years Alan Myers was born in 1954, in Akron, Ohio, and came from a jazz background. He graduated from Firestone High School in 1973. Sir Arthur Mielziner Myers (19 May 1868 – 9 October 1926) was a New Zealand politician. Devo (, originally ) is an American rock band from Akron, Ohio, formed in 1973. Their classic line-up consisted of two sets of brothers, the Mothersbaughs (Mark and Bob) and the Casales (Gerald and Bob), along with Alan Myers. Alan Myers (18 August 1933 – 8 August 2010) was a noted translator, most notably of works by Russian authors. Biography Myers was born in South Shields, County Durham, in 1933. He attended the University of London between 1957 and 1960 and Moscow University from 1960 to 1961. Subsequently, he taught Russian and English in Hertfordshire 1963–86. During this period, he published reviews, translations and educational articles, and in summer worked as a travel courier on Russian Baltic liners, and as interpreter for the British Council in Britain and the USSR. He has broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and the BBC World Service on Russian themes. He retired in 1986 to work as a freelance literary translator. Work Poetry Robert Conquest has stated that translating rhymed poetry into English rhymed poetry is the most difficult of all arts. Brad Myers (born December 25, 1975) is an American jazz composer and guitarist. With his music he aims to give a positive message to the world. Biography Myers started playing music at the age of 6. While first studying the piano, he switched to guitar at the age of 10. Then inspired by The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Yes, Rush and the Allman Brothers, his interest switched to jazz. Later inspirations for Myers include Jim Hall, the Bill Evans Trio, Keith Jarrett, Metheny and John Scofield. Until 1994, Myers lived in the Washington D.C. area. In 1994 he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, to study jazz guitar with James E. Smith at the University of Cincinnati – College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) on an Honors Scholarship.
