Yarraden is a coastal rural locality in the Shire of Cook, Queensland, Australia. In the Yarraden had a population of 11 people. Geography Yarraden is on the eastern side of Cape York Peninsula bordering the Coral Sea. The Great Dividing Range passes through the locality from the north ( Coen) to the south (Dixie). The Peninsula Developmental Road passes through in from north (Coen) to the south-east ( Laura). The Great Dividing Range creates a watershed with the creeks and rivers rising to the east of the range flowing into the Coral Sea, while the creeks and rivers rising to the west of the range flow into the Gulf of Carpentaria. Shire Of Cook
The Shire of Cook (The Shire) is a local government area in Far North Queensland, Australia. The Shire covers most of the eastern and central parts of Cape York Peninsula, the most northerly section of the Australian mainland. It covers an area of , and is the largest LGA in the state. The shire was established in 1919. The Daintree and Hann Divisions were created on 11 November 1879 as two of 74 divisions around Queensland under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879''. With the passage of the ''Local Authorities Act 1902'', they became the Shires of Daintree and Hann on 31 March 1903. On 16 January 1919, they merged to form the Shire of Cook. The Borough of Cooktown was proclaimed as a separate municipality on 3 April 1876 under the ''Municipal Institutions Act 1864''. On 24 August 1932, the Town of Cooktown (the successor to the Borough of Cooktown) was absorbed back into Cook Shire. Yetteneru
Yadaneru, also written ''Jeteneru'', refers to a tribe at one time thought to have existed in the Cape York Peninsula of northern Queensland. Country Norman Tindale states that the Yetteneru possessed tribal lands of about centered around Saltwater Creek, in the southwest corner of Princess Charlotte Bay, and that their inland extension went to somewhere in the vicinity of Musgrave. Musgrave Telegraph Station
Musgrave Telegraph Station is a heritage-listed former telegraph station and now roadhouse at Peninsula Developmental Road, Musgrave, Yarraden, Shire of Cook, Queensland, Australia. It is also known as Musgrave Roadhouse. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 August 1992. History The Musgrave Telegraph Office, named in honour of the then Governor of Queensland, Sir Anthony Musgrave, was erected in 1886 and commenced operation on 23 December that year. It was constructed in association with the important overland Cape York Telegraph Line from Laura, at the southern end of Cape York Peninsula, to Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. This is considered one of the outstanding achievements in the development of Queensland's colonial telegraph network. The line was explored and surveyed in 1883 by John Richard Bradford, Inspector of Lines and Mail Route Services from 1882 to 1895, later appointed Electrical Engineer for Queensland.
