Mount Salak
Mount Salak ( id, Gunung Salak, su, Gunung Salak) is an eroded volcano in West Java, Indonesia. It has several satellite cones on its southeast flank and the northern foot, along with two additional craters at the summit. Mount Salak has been evaluated for geothermal power development. According to a popular belief, the name "Salak" is derived from ''salak'', a tropical fruit with scaly skin; however, according to Sundanese tradition, the name was derived from the Sanskrit word ''Salaka'' which means "silver". Mount Salak can be translated to "Silver Mountain" or "Mount Silver". Geology Mount Salak is a stratovolcano with its last recorded eruption in January 1938. On October 10, 2018, there was a false alarm, as the VAAC in Darwin said that there was a sudden eruption and that an ash plume from the volcano had risen to 15 km, or 50,000 feet. The fanged river frog, Javan giant frog, Malaya wart frog, or stone creek frog (''Limnonectes macrodon'') is a species of frog in the family Dicroglossidae endemic to Sumatra and Java, Indonesia. Limnonectes Kuhlii
Kuhl's creek frog or large-headed frog (''Limnonectes kuhlii'') is a species of frog in the family Dicroglossidae. Species complex ''L. kuhlii'' was once believed to have a broad distribution in Northeast India (Assam) and Southeast Asia, but a phylogenetic analysis in 2010 demonstrated that there were at least 16 morphologically similar, but genetically distinct evolutionary lineages subsumed under the name. Already, several populations that were previously identified as ''L. kuhlii'' have been formally described as new species: '' L. fujianensis'' and '' L. bannaensis'' of China, '' L. nguyenorum'' and '' L. quangninhensis'' of Vietnam, '' L. jarujini'', '' L. taylori'', '' L. isanensis'', and '' L. megastomias'' of Thailand, and '' L. sisikdagu'' from Indonesia. Huia Masonii
The Javan torrent frog (''Huia masonii'') is a species of frog in the family Ranidae. It is endemic to Java, Indonesia. It is found in Mount Halimun Salak National Park, Ujung Kulon National Park, and Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park in West Java, as well as in Dieng Nature Reserve in Central Java. Its natural habitats are clear, fast-flowing streams and torrents in forests and in somewhat more open areas. It is a common species within this specific habitat, which is being threatened by sedimentation of streams as well as agro-chemical pollution. Javan torrent frog males use high-frequency communication to overcome the noise of their riverine habitats that is dominated by low frequencies. The second harmonic of the calls is ultrasonic.
