Miss World Australia
Miss World Australia is a national beauty pageant that selects Australia's representative to the Miss World pageant since 2002. The current Miss World Australia is Sarah Marschke from Sydney, New South Wales. Two Australian representatives have won the Miss World title, in 1968 and 1972. History Miss World Australia holds an annual pageant to identify young Australian women who exemplify beauty, talent, intelligence and compassion. It aims to create and empower role models who will serve as ambassadors to charity, enrich the perception of beauty, and enhance a new strength, energy and spirit for the advancement of women, while positively impacting their communities. In 2006 the national contest was cancelled and Sabrina Houssami was controversially crowned the winner and placed second runner up at Miss World. Beauty Pageant
A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Hundreds and thousands of beauty contests are held annually, but the Big Four are considered the most prestigious, widely covered and broadcast by media. Miss World 2005
Miss World 2005, the 55th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 10 December 2005 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. María Julia Mantilla of Peru crowned her successor Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir of Iceland. 102 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. All contestants competed in three "fast track" events, Beach Beauty, Miss Talent, and Beauty With a Purpose contests. The winner of each competition immediately became one of the fifteen pageant semi-finalists. She becaming the third Icelandic woman to win Miss World. Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant. Miss World 2011, the 61st edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 6 November 2011 at the Earls Court Two in London, United Kingdom. As part of the events, the contestants also travelled to Edinburgh, Scotland between 23 and 27 October. Alexandria Mills of the United States crowned her successor Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela at the end of the event, she is the sixth Venezuelan woman to win Miss World Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. Ashleigh Francis
Ashleigh Carmen Francis (born 12 May 1988) is an Australian beauty queen from Sydney. She won the title of Miss World Australia in August 2010, which launched her as a TV presenter, model and media personality. She is of Australian, Scottish and Jamaican descent. She is tall. In Miss World 2010, Francis placed in the finals for Beach Beauty, Sport and Talent (top 10). In 2012, Francis was signed with G02, a travel show on Australia's SBS network which was due to air in 2013. Six episodes were shot and aired prior to the show being discontinued. During this time she was a featured guest on ''Please marry my boy'' and was also asked to be a guest in Australia's ''Big Brother'' and ''I’m a celebrity, get me out of here'' (UK version) which she was unable to commit to for unknown reasons.
