Mirosław Golon (born 1964) is a Polish historian. Professor of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, member of Institute of National Remembrance, Polish Historical Society and Toruń Scientific Society. Author of over 90 publications, his research interests center on the history of Poland during Stalinist period (1945–1956), Polish-Soviet relations of that period, history of minorities in Poland in the 20th century and history of Pomerania The history of Pomerania starts shortly before 1000 AD with ongoing conquests by newly arrived Polans rulers. The Institute of National Remembrance – Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation ( pl, Instytut Pamięci Narodowej – Komisja Ścigania Zbrodni przeciwko Narodowi Polskiemu, abbreviated IPN) is a Polish state research institute in charge of education and archives with investigative and lustration powers. The IPN was established by the Polish parliament by the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance of 18 December 1998, which incorporated the earlier Main Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation of 1991. IPN itself had replaced a body on Nazi crimes established in 1945. Polish Historical Society ( pl, Polskie Towarzystwo Historyczne, PTH) is a Polish professional scientific society for historians. History Founded in 1886 in Lwów by Ksawery Liske as a local society, in 1926 it became the Poland-wide organization dedicated to advancing the knowledge and studies in history of Poland. Since 1974 it has been organizing tournaments of historical knowledge and since 1980 has been organizing academic conferences at five year intervals.
