Minister Of Communications (Iceland)
The Minister of Infrastructure in Iceland is the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure (formerly known as the Ministry of Transport and Local Government) and forms a part of the Cabinet of Iceland. The ministry was formed in 2017 and the current minister is Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson. History The Minister of Communications ( is, Samgönguráðherra) was a cabinet position which existed between 20 November 1959 and 1 October 2009. The Minister of Communications existed alongside the minister after 1 January 1970 when the Cabinet of Iceland Act no. 73/1969 took effect since ministries had not formally existed separately from the ministers. The Cabinet of Iceland ( is, Stjórnarráð Íslands) is the collective decision-making body of the government of Iceland, composed of the Prime Minister of Iceland, Prime Minister and the Minister (government), cabinet ministers. Ragnar Arnalds
Ragnar Arnalds (8 July 1938 – 15 September 2022) was an Icelandic former MP and twice cabinet minister. He studied literature and philosophy in Sweden from 1959 to 1961 and graduated with a law degree from the University of Iceland in 1968. He was editor of ''Frjáls þjóð'' in 1960. Arnalds served as a Minister of Education and Transportation from 1978 to 1979 and Minister of Finance of Iceland from 1980 to 1983. He was chairman of the People's Alliance (''Alþýðubandalagið'') from 1968 to 1977. Steingrímur Hermannsson (pronounced ; 22 June 1928 – 1 February 2010) was an Icelandic politician who served as prime minister of Iceland from 1983 to 1987, and again from 1988 to 1991. Early childhood Steingrímur's father was Hermann Jónasson, another former Prime Minister. Being the son of a prominent official, Steingrímur enjoyed a relatively care-free upbringing in a country stricken by the Great Depression. As a young boy he had an exceptional proximity to Iceland's World War II politics, overhearing state affairs being discussed in his father's living room. The Social Democratic Party ( is, Alþýðuflokkurinn), officially the People's Party, was a social-democratic political party in Iceland. It was founded in 1916, as the political representation of the trade unions of Iceland. History In 1920 its first member of the Althing, the Icelandic parliament, Jón Baldvinsson was elected.
