Milpitas Unified School District
Milpitas Unified School District is a public school district in Milpitas, California. It operates two child development centers, ten elementary schools (K-6), two middle schools (7-8), one high school (9-12), one continuation high school, one adult school, and a San Jose City College extension campus. The district serves over 10,170 students in Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 12 and employs around 950 employees, including more than 460 teachers. The current superintendent is Cheryl Jordan who began in 2016. History During the 19th and early 20th centuries, children living in Milpitas went to three different schools: Air Point School, Calaveras School, and another one where a Presbyterian church currently stands. San Jose City College
San José City College (SJCC) is a public community college in San Jose, California. Founded in 1921, SJCC is located in the West San Jose neighborhood of Fruitdale. Milpitas Grammar School, now part of the Milpitas Library, is an educational building in Milpitas, California. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 22, 1993. James Lick High School
James Lick High School is a public high school in San Jose, California, US, located in the Alum Rock district of East San Jose. The school is part of the East Side Union High School District. History James Lick High School opened in 1950 at the base of the East Foothills of San Jose; orchards and open land surrounded the established residential area. Samuel Ayer High School
Created in 1956, Samuel Ayer High School was the first high school in the City of Milpitas, California. It was located at 1395 E. Calaveras Blvd. Previous to its opening, Milpitas high school students attended James Lick High School in San Jose. With the opening of Milpitas High School in 1969, the two schools coexisted until 1980 when declining enrollment caused Samuel Ayer to be closed.
