Michael Francis is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He played for South Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition and for the London Broncos in the Rugby Football League Championship First Division. Background Francis played his junior rugby league for Lithgow and represented the Australian schoolboys team in 1992. Michael Kpakala Francis (born 12 February 1936 – 19 May 2013) was a Liberian prelate of the Catholic Church who led the Apostolic Vicariate of Monrovia from 1976 to 1981 and then served as the first Archbishop of the newly established Archdiocese of Monrovia from 1981 to 2011. Biography Michael Kpakala Francis was born on 12 February 1936 in Kakata District, Liberia. He was ordained a priest on 4 August 1963. On 28 October 1976, Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Ausuccura and Apostolic Vicar of Monrovia. He received his episcopal consecration on 19 December 1976 from his predecessor, Francis Carroll. On 19 December 1981, Pope John Paul appointed him the first Archbishop of the newly created Archdiocese of Monrovia. Michael Francis (born 1976) is a British conductor. Biography Francis learnt the double bass as a youth. He was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, and graduated in 1997 from The Cardiff University School of Music. He played the double bass for the London Symphony Orchestra before he began conducting. His first public performance as conductor of a major orchestra occurred in January 2007 when he deputised for Valery Gergiev. In Europe, Francis became chief conductor and artistic adviser to the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra in 2012, and held the post through 2016. In December 2016, Francis first guest-conducted the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz. In December 2018, the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz announced the appointment of Francis as its next chief conductor, effective with the 2019-2020 season, with an initial contract of 5 years. Francesco Puccioni (26 April 1961 – 30 January 2009), better known under his stage name Mike Francis, was an Italian singer and composer, born in Florence, Italy. Internationally, he was best known for his 1984 hit, "Survivor", and his collaborations with American singer Amii Stewart. Career Puccioni formed his first band at age 14 with schoolmates from l'Istituto di Studi Americano in Rome. Under the stage name Mike Francis, he had his first hit with "Survivor" in 1984 and went on to record ten studio albums. Among his best known works is the song "Friends", a duet with Amii Stewart released in 1984 which became a big hit in the UK and the Philippines. Michael G. Francis is an American politician and businessman from Crowley, Louisiana. He is currently a member of the Louisiana Public Service Commission from the 4th district. Prior to his election to the Public Service Commission, he was the Chairman of the Republican Party of Louisiana from 1994 until 2000. Early life Francis was born in Jena, LaSalle Parish, Louisiana. He attended local public schools and Jena High School, graduating from the latter in 1964. In the 1960s he began working as a truck driver and drilling fluid engineer.
