Metroway
Metroway is a bus rapid transit (BRT) line operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as part of their Metrobus system. It consists of a single line operating in Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia. It opened on August 24, 2014. It is the first bus rapid transit line to open in Virginia and in the Washington metropolitan area. Route The service runs from its northern end at the Pentagon City south through Crystal City and Potomac Yard before ending at the Braddock Road Metrorail station. The service runs along a bus-only roadway along Richmond Highway (U.S. Route 1) in Alexandria between Potomac and East Glebe stations, as well as a busway in Arlington. The remainder of the service runs on mixed-traffic roadways. Stations There are 17 stations on the route. Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA ), commonly referred to as Metro, is a tri-jurisdictional government agency that operates transit service in the Washington metropolitan area. WMATA was created by the United States Congress as an interstate compact between Washington, D.C., the State of Maryland, and the Commonwealth of Virginia. WMATA provides rapid transit service under the Metrorail name, fixed-route bus service under the Metrobus brand, and paratransit service under the MetroAccess brand. East Glebe is a bus rapid transit station in Alexandria, Virginia, located on Richmond Highway (U.S. Route 1) between East Glebe Road and Hume Avenue. It is a stop on the portion of dedicated bus-only highway along the Metroway bus rapid transit line, providing two-way service along the route. The station provides service to the central Potomac Yard and Potomac communities in Alexandria. The southbound station is located at the northern end of the busway that runs down the median of Richmond Highway, but the northern station is in mixed-traffic on East Glebe Road, one block east at Main Line Boulevard. Crystal City station is an underground Washington Metro station in the Crystal City neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia, United States. The station opened on July 1, 1977 and serves the Blue Line and Yellow Line services, with a Metroway bus rapid transit stop on the surface. Station layout The station has two side platforms in a cylindrical vault, which runs east-west under plazas on the north side of 18th Street South between Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway and Crystal Drive. The fare mezzanine is located above the center of the platforms. The single station entrance is on the northwest corner of 18th Street South and South Bell Street, with a bank of escalators leading to an upper mezzanine.
