Melodi Grand Prix 2008
Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song " Hold On Be Strong" written by Mira Craig. The song was performed by Maria Haukaas Storeng. NRK organised the national final ''Melodi Grand Prix 2008'' in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia. "Hold On Be Strong" performed by Mira Craig was selected as the winner following a five-week-long competition consisting of three semi-finals, a Second Chance round and the final. Norway was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 20 May 2008. Performing during the show in position 9, "Hold On Be Strong" was announced among the top 10 entries of the first semi-final and therefore qualified to compete in the final on 24 May. It was later revealed that Norway placed fourth out of the 19 participating countries in the semi-final with 106 points. Maria Haukaas Storeng
Maria Haukaas Mittet (née Storeng, born 3 August 1979) also known as simply Maria is a Norwegian recording artist. She gained national recognition in 2004 for her participation in the ''Idol'' reality television series, and international recognition in 2008 as Norway's representative in the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest. Biography Maria was born in Finnsnes, but grew up on the island of Senja, in Troms county, Norway. She first received national media attention when she had her first musical role at the age of 11, with the lead in Annie, at the Bryggeteateret in Oslo (1991). Maria and her family moved to Oslo for the musical, and when the show run was over, they moved back to Senja. Melodi Grand Prix (), commonly known as Grand Prix and MGP, sometimes as Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix ( no, Norsk Melodi Grand Prix), is an annual music competition organised by Norwegian public broadcaster Norsk Rikskringkasting (NRK). It determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been staged almost every year since 1960. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners, a non-winning televote winner and nine top-five placings for Norway at the contest. Christian Ingebrigtsen (born 25 January 1977) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and musician. He is a member of the pop group A1. Biography Ingebrigtsen was born in Oslo, Norway, into a musical family. His father Stein Ingebrigtsen was the biggest selling recording artist in Norway in the 1970s. Avalanche (band)
Avalanche were a Norwegian disco and dance duo group founded in 1984. The group is composed of Kjetil Røsnes (born 30 March 1960, in Lørenskog) and Kirsti Johansen (born 22 September 1963, in Kristiansand). From the late 1980s and during the 1990s the couple lived and worked in Germany and France. They currently live in Aurskog-Høland, Norway with their two children. "My Boobs Are OK" is a 2007 hit single by Norwegian singer Lene Alexandra. Origin The initial idea for the song came in summer 2006, when Lene Alexandra was playing football.
