VHSL Group 6A North Region
The Group 6A North Region was a division of the Virginia High School League. Along with the 6A South Region, it consisted of the largest high schools in Virginia. The region was formed in 2013 when the VHSL adopted a six classification format and eliminated the previous three classification system. It is a successor to the AAA Northern Region. The conference system was scrapped prior to the 2017–18 academic year, reverting the previous district. Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association
The Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association (VASRA) is a 501(c)(3) that promotes and supports scholastic rowing in Virginia and sponsors and conducts competitive rowing regattas for high schools in Virginia. It is an organizational member of USRowing, the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. VASRA runs 8-9 regattas during the scholastic spring season. Most events are on the Occoquan Reservoir at Sandy Run Regional Park, only the Charlie Butt Regatta is on the Potomac River and is run from Thompson Boat Center. College club sports in the United States are any sports offered at a university or college in the United States that compete competitively with other universities, or colleges, but are not regulated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) or National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and do not have varsity status. Collegiate club sports can exist at schools that do have teams that are part of the NCAA or NAIA. Many times, club sports are student-run and receive little financial aid from the school. The Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League (NVSHL) is a non-affiliated high school and middle school ice hockey league comprising teams from the Northern Virginia Area including Fairfax County, Prince William County, Loudoun County, Arlington County, Stafford County, Fauquier County, and the cities of Manassas and Alexandria. The NVSHL staff and board of directors includes a combination of coaches, parents, team representatives, referee, and rink supervisors. There are also many members who are not affiliated with and particular team or organization. Hayfield Secondary School is a secondary school (grades 7–12) in the Fairfax County Public Schools system of Virginia. It opened in 1968 and graduated its first senior class in 1971. History The land that Hayfield Secondary sits on was at one time part of George Washington's Mount Vernon estate. Because of a small natural spring underneath the school, the land served as a hay field. The land itself changed hands numerous times, until 1956 when developers constructed the nearby Hayfield Farm Community, the first of many housing developments in the region. Eric Hall Dorsey (born August 5, 1964) is a former American football defensive end for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He started in Super Bowl XXV for the New York Giants. He played college football at the University of Notre Dame and was drafted in the first round of the 1986 NFL Draft.
