Marvin Westmore
Marvin George Westmore (December 24, 1934 – November 28, 2020) was an American make-up artist in Hollywood, and part of the famed Westmore family. The son of Monte Westmore, he ran the Westmore Academy and was the Founder & CEO of the George Westmore Research Library & Museum in Burbank, California. His body frame and clothing styles were said to resemble that of '' The Price Is Right '' announcer Rod Roddy, and he played a Rod Roddy impersonator in a showcase on the January 11, 1994 episode of the game show. He died in November 2020 at the age of 85. Westmore Family
The Westmore Family is a prominent family in Hollywood make-up. Led by their patriarch, George Westmore, the family has had four generations serve Hollywood as make-up artists in various capacities since George's establishment of Hollywood's first make-up department in 1917. Careers The English wigmaker George Westmore, for whom the Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild's George Westmore Lifetime Achievement Award is named, founded the first (and tiny) film makeup department, at Selig Polyscope Company in 1917. Monte Westmore
Montague "Monte" Westmore (22 July 1902 – 30 March 1940) was a Hollywood make-up artist, the eldest of six sons of George Westmore. He worked for both the Famous Players-Lasky studio and Selznick International Pictures. He was the head of the makeup department at Selznick and worked on films including ''Gone with the Wind'' (1939) and '' Rebecca'' (1940). His death from a heart attack following a tonsillectomy has been credited to the heavy workload on ''Gone with the Wind''. He had three sons, Marvin, Michael, and Monty, all of whom also became make-up artists. Biography Monte was a member of the Westmore family and the oldest of George Westmore's six sons. ''The Price Is Right'' is an American television game show created by Bob Stewart, Mark Goodson and Bill Todman where contestants compete by guessing the prices of merchandise to win cash and prizes. Contestants are selected from the studio audience as the announcer calls their names and invokes the show's famous catchphrase, "Come on down!" The program premiered on September 4, 1972, on CBS. Bob Barker was the series' longest-running host from its 1972 debut until his retirement in June 2007, when Drew Carey took over. Rod Roddy
Robert Ray Roddy (September 28, 1937 – October 27, 2003) was an American radio and television announcer. He was primarily known for his role as an offstage announcer on game shows. Among the shows that he announced are the CBS game shows ''Whew!'' and ''Press Your Luck.'' He is widely recognized by the signature line, "Come on down!" from ''The Price Is Right'', and it appears on his grave marker, although the phrase was originated and made popular by his predecessor Johnny Olson. Roddy succeeded original announcer Olson on ''The Price Is Right'' and held the role from 1986 until his death in 2003, and as of 2022, is the longest-serving announcer on the current incarnation of the show.
