Trevor Marsicano
Trevor Marsicano (born April 5, 1989) is an American speed skater and silver medalist in the Winter Olympics. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Marsicano won a silver medal for his part in the team pursuit. He did not skate in the final but did skate in the quarterfinals with Chad Hedrick and Jonathan Kuck. Marsicano's breakthrough performance was at the 2009 World Single Distance Championships where he won four medals (one gold, one silver, two bronze). Overall, Marsicano has won two golds, one silver, and two bronze at the World Championships. Marsicano has also won the overall bronze at the World Junior Championships. Career Marsicano started playing ice hockey, but switched to short track speed skating at a young age with the Saratoga Winter Club. In 2004, he suffered a very deep open wound to his thigh during a fall with another skater. Michael Marsicano
Michael Marsicano (born 1956) serves on the boards of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Leon Levine Foundation. He is the former president and CEO of Foundation for the Carolinas, retiring in Januar In 2017, Marsicano was named No. 1 on the list of 50 Most Powerful People in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine. Biography Marsicano received his Bachelor of Science, Masters of Education and Doctor of Philosophy from Duke University. He served as Executive Director of the Durham Arts Council in Durham, North Carolina, from 1982-1989. In 1989, he left to oversee the Arts & Science Council in Charlotte. While at its head, the united arts fund became the nation's highest in per capita annual giving, and the Arts & Science Council became one of the largest endowed arts councils in the United States. Nicholas Marsicano
Nicholas Marsicano (1908 – 1991) was an American painter and teacher of the New York School. His work was primarily based on the female figure. Life Marsicano was born October 1, 1908, in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. He was educated at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, and later was accepted at the nearby Barnes Foundation, along with Ralston Crawford. During his years at the Barnes, Marsicano traveled to Europe and North Africa, Mexico, and United States. Marsicano befriended many artists of his time including Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Franz Kline, Raoul Hague, Phillip Guston, and others. During his teaching career, his students included Tom Wesselmann, Eva Hesse, Audrey Flack, Milton Glaser, Joan Semmel, Mel Leipzig, Thomas Nozkowski, and more. Alberto Marsicano (31 January 1952 – 18 August 2013) was a Brazilian musician, translator, writer, philosopher and professor. He was one of the people who introduced the Indian sitar in Brazil. He played with musicians such as Ivan Vilela, Lula Côrtes and Arnaldo Antunes. Marsicano spoke many languages, including Chinese, Latin, English, and Greek. He had a degree in philosophy.
