Margaret Early
Margaret Early (December 25, 1919 – November 29, 2000) was an American film actress who was active in Hollywood during the 1930s and 1940s. She is best remembered for her endearing Southern charm. Life and career Born on Christmas Day 1919 into a devout Baptist family, she grew up on a farm near Birmingham, Alabama. During her youth, she often appeared in religious plays at her church, particularly in Christmas pageants. She came to Hollywood with her father on a business trip, and was asked to try out for a role in a Beverly Hills Little Theatre production where Gregory La Cava saw her perform. Eventually, she was signed with RKO. Her Southern accent was called "as sweet and thick as cream," in a column by Donald Kirkley for ''The Baltimore Sun''. ''Stage Door Canteen'' is a 1943 American World War II film with musical numbers and other entertainment interspersed with dramatic scenes by a largely unknown cast. The film was produced by Sol Lesser's Principal Artists Productions and directed by Frank Borzage. The film features many celebrity cameo appearances but primarily relates a simple drama set in the famed New York City restaurant and nightclub for American and Allied servicemen. Six bands are featured. The score and the original song, "We Mustn't Say Goodbye", were nominated for Academy Awards. Ginger Rogers (born Virginia Katherine McMath; July 16, 1911 – April 25, 1995) was an American actress, dancer and singer during the Classical Hollywood cinema, Golden Age of Hollywood. Cheryl Walker (August 1, 1918 – October 24, 1971) was an American fashion model and actress. Early years Walker was born in South Pasadena, California, to Everett Dale and Pauline S. Walker. She attended Pasadena Junior College, where she was a champion swimmer. Walker won the 1938 Tournament of Roses pageant leading to a brief career as a model and the beginning of a brief film career.
