Marcel Theux (born August 9, 1988) is a Swiss ski mountaineer and long-distance runner. Theux was born in Orsières. He started ski mountaineering in 2002 and participated in his first race in 2003. Since 2007, he has been member of the Swiss national selection. Orsières
Orsières is a municipality in the district of Entremont in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. History Orsières is first mentioned in 972 as ''Pons Ursarii''. In medieval times, it was a stage on the ''Via Francigena''. Geography Orsières has an area, , of . Of this area, 16.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 25.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.5% is settled (buildings or roads) and 56.5% is unproductive land. The municipality is located at the foot of the Mont Blanc Massif on the road over the Great St Bernard Pass. It is located on the border with both Italy and France and covers two valleys, the Val Ferret and the Vallée de Champex. It consists of the village of Orsières and twelve hamlets including Champex, Ferret, Issert, La Fouly and Praz-de-Fort. Alexander Hug (ski Mountaineer)
Alexander Hug (born 11 May 1975) is a Swiss ski mountaineer. Biography Hug was born in Walenstadt and used for his first ski mountaineering attempts on the Garmil years self-tinkered touring bindings, when he was eleven years old. He started armateur ski mountaineering sports in 1990 and competed first at the "Arflina race". In 1999 and 2000 he won the " Pizol Challenge", and has been member of the national team since 2000. He enjoys also mountain biking, climbing and mountain running. Verbier
Verbier is a village located in south-western Switzerland in the canton of Valais. It is a holiday resort and ski area in the Swiss Alps and is recognised as one of the premier off-piste resorts in the world. Some areas are covered with snow all year. Skiers have settled in the Verbier area in order to take advantage of the steep slopes, varied conditions, and resort culture. Geography Verbier is located in the municipality of Val de Bagnes in the Swiss canton of Valais. The village lies on a south oriented terrace at around 1,500 metres facing the Grand Combin massif. The terrace lies on the east side of the Val de Bagnes, a valley located south of Martigny. Verbier had 2767 permanent residents in 2006.
