Marc Pisciotta
Marc George Pisciotta (born August 7, 1970), is an American former professional baseball pitcher, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1997 to 1999, for the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals. Amateur career As a Little League Baseball player, the 12-year-old, Pisciotta used his overpowering fastball to lead the East Marietta National Little League of Marietta, Georgia, to the 1983 Little League World Series title. Pisciotta attended George Walton Comprehensive High School and played college baseball at Georgia Tech. In 1990, he played collegiate summer baseball in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox and was named a league all-star. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL or Cape League) is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league located on Cape Cod in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. One of the nation's premier collegiate summer leagues, the league boasts over one thousand former players who have gone on to play in the major leagues.
