Malcolm Farr (born 2 August 1951 ) is a political journalist in the Canberra Press Gallery covering the Parliament of Australia in Canberra, Australia. Work Based in Canberra, Farr is the National Political Editor for News.com.au and contributing writer to ''The Punch'' He has worked for a number of Australian publications including ''The Daily Telegraph'', ''The Daily Mirror'', Brisbane Sun and ''The Australian''. ''The Daily Mirror'' was an afternoon paper established by Ezra Norton in Sydney, Australia in 1941, gaining a licence from the Minister for Trade and Customs, Eric Harrison, despite wartime paper rationing. In October 1958, Norton and his partners sold his newspapers to the Fairfax Group, which immediately sold it to News Limited. ''Insiders'' is an Australian news and talk television program produced by ABC News, and hosted by David Speers. History The program debuted on 15 July 2001, hosted by Barrie Cassidy until June 2019. Similar to the Sunday morning talk shows in the United States, ''Insiders'' analyses and discusses Australian politics with the use of a panel of political journalists and columnists and interviews with prominent politicians and commentators. Broadcast on ABC on Sunday mornings at 9am, the program also features many regular commentators from various Australian media outlets and think tanks. ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Until an organisational restructure in 2017/2018, ABC Television was also the name of a division of the ABC. The name was also used to refer to the first and for many years the only national ABC channel, before it was renamed ABC1 and then again to ABC TV. The Australian public broadcaster's television service was launched in November 1956 from its first television station in Australia, ABN Sydney. This was the second one in the country, with the commercial channel TCN having launched two months earlier. ''Meet the Press'' was an Australian Sunday morning talk show focused on the national political agenda, as well as other news, sport and lifestyle issues. History ''Meet the Press'' was originally a radio and television simulcast between 3DB and HSV-7 in Melbourne. It commenced in 1957, the very early days of television, well before the simultaneous national broadcasting of programs was possible. The original moderator was Herald and Weekly Times journalist Frederick Howard. (The HWT then owned both 3DB and HSV-7.) The radio version was somewhat short-lived but the television program lasted for some time.
