Madera Station is a proposed train station to serve Madera, California. It would be located near the intersection of Avenue 12 and Santa Fe Drive. The Madera Amtrak station opened in 2010 as a replacement for the hundred-year old Storey station. Stockton Subdivision
The Stockton Subdivision is a railroad line in the U.S. state of California owned by the BNSF Railway. It runs from the Port of Richmond, where trains interchange with the Richmond Pacific Railroad, to Fresno where the railway continues south as the Bakersfield Subdivision or the Union Pacific Fresno Subdivision. The line was originally constructed by the San Francisco and San Joaquin Valley Railroad in the late 1890s before being acquired by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Madera station is an unstaffed train station near Madera, California, United States that is served by '' San Joaquins'' trains, which run between Oakland or Sacramento and Bakersfield, California. Description The station is located at 18770 Road 26, approximately north of the city limits of Madera, and immediately north of the boundary of Madera Acres. It is easily accessible from Highway 99 (Golden State Highway) by taking the Cleveland Avenue interchange (Exit 155) and then heading east as Cleveland Avenue quickly curves to the north and becomes Country Club Drive. Continue north on Country Club Drive, which eventually becomes Road 26, until the station is reached (at what would be about Avenue 18¾). Storey (known as Madera by Amtrak) was an unstaffed train station located in the unincorporated community of Storey, and about southeast of the Fresno River, in Madera County, California, United States. Just prior to its closure in November 2010 and replacement by the new Madera station, this station was served by Amtrak's (the National Railroad Passenger Corporation) '' San Joaquin''. Prior to Amtrak, this station was also previously served by Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad's (ATSF) ''San Francisco Chief'' and its Oakland-Barstow Line. Description The Storey Station (Madera) was located at Avenue 15½ at 29th Road. Prior to its removal (following its closure in 2010) the station had one side platform on the southwest side of the southwest track. California High-Speed Rail (also known as CAHSR or CHSR) is a publicly funded high-speed rail system currently under construction in California in the United States. Planning for the project began in 1996, when the California Legislature and Governor Pete Wilson established the California High-Speed Rail Authority and tasked it with creating a plan for the system and presenting it to the voters of the state for approval. In 2008, voters approved Proposition 1A, which established a route connecting all the major population centers of the state, authorized bonds to begin implementation, and set other requirements. The CAHSR system is being implemented in segments.
