The March of Genoa or Eastern Liguria was created in 961 by the Emperor Otto I. It was originally called either the ''marca Obertenga'' after its first holder, Oberto I, or the ''marca Januensis'' after its original capital and chief city, Genoa. Its creation was part of a general reorganisation of the northwest of Italy into three frontier districts. Western Liguria became the March of Montferrat and the interior became the March of Turin. Conrad Marca-Relli (born Corrado Marcarelli; June 5, 1913 – August 29, 2000) was an American artist who belonged to the early generation of New York School Abstract Expressionist artists whose artistic innovation by the 1950s had been recognized across the Atlantic, including Paris. The March of Treviso ( la, Marca trevisana, it, Marca trevigiana or ) was a medieval territory in Venetia, between the Garda and the Julian March.
