Commune (Vietnam)
A commune () is a type of third tier subdivision of Vietnam. It is divided into 11,162 units along with Ward (Vietnam), wards and Commune-level town (Vietnam), townships, which have an equal status. Communes have a lower status than Provincial city (Vietnam), provincial cities, County-level town (Vietnam), towns or District (Vietnam), districts. This subdivision has existed since 1428, when Emperor Lê Thái Tổ re-organised the country into five administrative levels. Xã 社 was the lowest level, equivalent to a village. Since 2019, Vietnam has undertaken a comprehensive rearrangement of administrative units in order to streamline the apparatus of local authorities. The re-organisation, conducted in two periods, between 2020 and 2023 and between 2023 and 2030, comprises forced mergers of several districts and commune-level administrative units and localities. An Giang is a Provinces of Vietnam, province of Vietnam. It is located in the Mekong Delta, in the country's southwestern part. Geography An Giang is located in the upper reaches of the Mekong Delta. The Bassac River, Hậu Giang and Tiền River, Tiền Giang branches of the Mekong River are the province's dominant geographical features. With the exception of the west, most of An Giang is fairly flat and is criss-crossed by many canals and small rivers. Districts (), also known as rural districts or counties, are one of several types of second-tier administrative subdivisions of Vietnam, the other types being urban districts (), provincial cities (), municipal cities (), and district-level towns (). Chợ Mới is a rural district (''huyện'') of An Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. Chợ Mới is the district with the largest population in An Giang province. As of 2019, the district had a population of 307,981. The district covers 355 km². The district's capital lies at Chợ Mới. In addition to the district capital Chợ Mới, there are two other urban subdivisions, Mỹ Luông Town and Hội An Town. The Köppen climate classification divides Earth climates into five main climate groups, with each group being divided based on patterns of seasonal precipitation and temperature. Tropical savanna climate or tropical wet and dry climate is a tropical climate sub-type that corresponds to the Köppen climate classification categories ''Aw'' (for a dry "winter") and ''As'' (for a dry "summer").
