Mārupe Parish
Mārupe (german: Marienbach) is a town in and the centre of Mārupe Municipality, Latvia. Mārupe is in practice a suburb of the Latvian capital, Riga, and is the headquarters of the Latvian Bandy Federation. A small river Mārupīte flows through the town. According to the provisions of the 2021 Latvian administrative reform, Mārupe gained city rights (town status) on 1 July 2022. Economy The largest businesses registered in Mārupe in 2020 were: road transport company "Kreiss", auto parts saler "Inter Cars Latvija", computers saler "Also Latvia", electricals and computers saler "MoonCom". Roads The main road through Mārupe is Riga-Jaunmārupe (P1132). Two big roads are the borders of town: Rīga-Eleja ( A8) and Rīga- Ventspils ( A10). Mārupe Municipality
Mārupe Municipality ( lv, Mārupes novads) is a municipality in Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by reorganization of Mārupe Parish. The administrative centre is Mārupe. On 1 July 2021, Mārupe Municipality was reformed and enlarged when Babīte Municipality was merged into it. Since that date, Mārupe Municipality consists of the following administrative units: Mārupe Parish, Babīte Parish and Sala Parish. Latvian law defines Mārupe Parish and Sala Parish as parts of the Vidzeme region and Babīte Parish as belonging partly to Vidzeme and partly to Semigallia. A8 Road (Latvia)
The A8 is a national road in Latvia connecting Riga to Lithuanian border ( Meitene), through Jelgava, also known as Jelgava highway in Latvia. The road is part of European route E77 and Latvian TEN-T road network. After the border, the road turns into Lithuanian A12. The length of A8 in Latvian territory is 76 kilometers. Currently A8 has 2x2 lanes until Jelgava bypass, other parts have 1x1 or 2x1 lanes. The current speed limit is 100 km/h. Plans to reconstruct A8 in to a motorway have been many. First, in 2004, then in 2010, but they never started due to financial reasons. In the recent years A8 has been reconstructed in many stretches.
