Mürtschenstock
The Mürtschenstock is a mountain massif of the Glarus Alps, overlooking the Walensee in the canton of Canton of Glarus, Glarus. It is composed of several summits, of which the highest (named ''Ruchen'') has an elevation of 2,441 metres above sea level. The two other main summits are the ''Stock'' (2,390 m) and the Fulen (2,410 m) . Glarus Alps
The Glarus Alps () are a mountain range in central Switzerland. They are bordered by the Uri Alps and the Schwyz Alps to the west, the Lepontine Alps to the south, the Appenzell Alps to the northeast. The eastern part of the Glarus Alps contains a major thrust fault that was declared a geologic UNESCO World Heritage Site (the Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona). The Glarus Alps extend well beyond the canton of Glarus, including parts of the cantons of Canton of Uri, Uri, Graubünden, and Canton of St Gallen, St Gallen. Walensee
Lake Walen, also known as Lake Walenstadt or (), is one of the larger lakes in Switzerland. Located in the east of the country, about two thirds of its area are in the canton of St. Gallen and about one third in the canton of Glarus. Its name means 'Lake of the Walhaz' (), since in the early Middle Ages Lake Walen formed the linguistic border between the Alemanni, who settled in the west, and the Romansh people, the Walhaz (), in the east. Swisstopo is the official name for the Swiss Federal Office of Topography, Switzerland's national mapping agency. The current name was made official in 2002. It had been used as the domain name for the homepage of the instituteswisstopo.admin.ch since 1997. Maps The main class of products produced by Swisstopo are topographical maps on seven different Scale (map), scales. Swiss maps have been praised for their accuracy and quality. Regular maps * 1:25.000. This is the most detailed map, useful for many purposes. Those are popular with tourists, especially for famous areas like Zermatt and St. Moritz.
