Münevver Andaç
Münevver Andaç (12 February 1917 16 May 1997) was a translator of Turkish literature. She was the partner of the poet Nazim Hikmet and had a son with him named Mehmet. She translated Hikmet's work into French, as she did for many other Turkish writers. Turkish Literature
Turkish literature () comprises oral compositions and written texts in the Turkish language. Nazim Hikmet
Subahdar, also known as Nazim, was one of the designations of a governor of a Subah (province) during the Khalji dynasty of Bengal, Mamluk dynasty, Khalji dynasty, Tughlaq dynasty, and the Mughal era who was alternately designated as Sahib-i-Subah or Nazim. The word, ''Subahdar'' is of Persian origin. The Subahdar was the head of the Mughal provincial administration. He was assisted by the provincial ''Diwan'', '' Bakhshi'', ''Faujdar'', ''Kotwal'', ''Qazi'', ''Sadr'', ''Waqa-i-Navis'', ''Qanungo'' and '' Patwari''. The Subahdars were normally appointed from among the Mughal princes or the officers holding the highest ''mansabs'' (ranks). Orhan Pamuk
Ferit Orhan Pamuk (born 7 June 1952; ) is a Turkish novelist, screenwriter, academic, and recipient of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Literature. One of Turkey's most prominent novelists, he has sold over 13 million books in 63 languages, making him the country's best-selling writer. Pamuk's novels include '' Silent House'', '' The White Castle'', '' The Black Book'', '' The New Life'', '' My Name Is Red'' and ''Snow''. He is the Robert Yik-Fong Tam Professor in the Humanities at Columbia University, where he teaches writing and comparative literature. He was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 2018. The term was coined by Onésime Reclus in 1880 and became important as part of the conceptual rethinking of cultures and geography in the late 20th century.
