Mírov
Mírov () is a municipality and village in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants. It is known for its high-security and maximum security prison. Geography Mírov is located about southwest of Šumperk and northwest of Olomouc. It lies in the Zábřeh Highlands. The highest point is a hill at above sea level. The Mírovka Stream flows through the municipality. History The first written mention of Mírov is from 1266. A medieval castle from the mid-12th century in Mírov was rebuilt into a Baroque fortress in 1684. It served as the occasional seat of the Olomouc archbishop until 1741, when it was looted by Prussian army. In 1750, the fortress was rebuilt into a prison. In 1850, the prison was bought by the state, a neo-Gothic reconstruction was carried out and a state prison was set up there. From 1980 to 1990, Mírov was a municipal part of Mohelnice. János Esterházy
Count János Eszterházy (; rarely ; March 14, 1901 – March 8, 1957) was a prominent politician of Hungarian ethnicity in inter-war Czechoslovakia and later in the First Slovak Republic. He was a member of the Czechoslovak Parliament and of the Slovak Assembly. After the Second World War, he was illegally deported to the Soviet Union, sentenced on trumped-up charges at a show trial, and imprisoned. In the meantime, he was sentenced, in absentia, to death by the National Court in Bratislava on the charges of High Treason to the State, collaboration with the enemy, the breaking-up of Czechoslovakia and his participation in an anti-democratic regime as a deputy of the Slovak Assembly. The sentence was not executed as a consequence of a Presidential pardon, following his return to Czechoslovakia from the Soviet Union. He died in prison in 1957. Štefan Tiso
Štefan Tiso (October 18, 1897 – March 28, 1959) was a lawyer and president of the Supreme Court of the 1939–1945 Slovak Republic which was a puppet state of Nazi Germany. He was a cousin of Josef Tiso, the president of the Republic. Tiso was born in Nagybiccse, Kingdom of Hungary. He became prime minister (replacing Vojtech Tuka), Foreign Minister (replacing also Vojtech Tuka) and minister of Justice (replacing Gejza Fritz) of the Slovak Republic. In the latter position in 1944 he pressed for death sentences against leaders of the pro-allied Slovak National Council. Tiso also emphasized his desire to see a Final Solution to the Jewish Question in Slovakia, in discussions with Josef Witiska, the commander of Einsatzgruppe H. He believed that the uprising was the work of Judeo-Bolshevik plotters and considered Jews " enemies of the state". In a postwar trial, Štefan Tiso was given a life sentence. Mohelnice (; ) is a town in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 9,800 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected as an Cultural monument (Czech Republic)#Monument zones, urban monument zone. D35 Motorway (Czech Republic)
D35 motorway (), formerly Expressway R35 () is a motorway in the Czech Republic. Once completed, it will be the second longest highway in Czech Republic, running from Úlibice to the D1 at Lipník nad Bečvou. The motorway is part of the European route E442. Around Hradec Králové, the D35 runs in parallel with the D11 (between the Sedlice interchange and the Plotiště interchange). After completion (planned for 2028), it will become an alternative route to motorway D1 between Prague and Olomouc and Ostrava.
