Märkische Oderzeitung
The ''Märkische Oderzeitung'' (abbreviated: ''MOZ'') is a German regional newspaper published in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. The circulation area of the MOZ is largely identical to the former Bezirk Frankfurt, a region with around 600,000 inhabitants. It stretches along the Polish border from the northern border of Brandenburg to Eisenhüttenstadt in the south of the state. In the west, the ''Märkische Oderzeitung'' reaches the city limits of Berlin. The twelve local editions have about 240,000 readers. The sold circulation amounts to 67.412 copies, a minus of 50 percent since 1998. The share of subscribers is traditionally high. History The ''Märkische Oderzeitung'' has been published since 17 March 1990, the day before the first free elections in the GDR took place, as an independent daily newspaper by ''Märkisches Medienhaus GmbH & Co. ''Stuttgarter Nachrichten'' (''Stuttgart News'') is a newspaper that is published in Stuttgart-Möhringen, Germany. It sells together with the '' Stuttgarter Zeitung'', which comes from the same publishing house. In 2013, the two papers, together with ''Nordstuttgarter Rundschau'' and ''Fellbacher Zeitung'', had a total circulation of 217,000. Christoph Reisinger has been the editor-in-chief since April 2011. History The newspaper was first published on 12 November 1946 under licence from the American military government, initially only three times a week. Editors were Henry Bernhard, Otto Färber and Erwin Schoettle. Chrysostomus Zodel was editor-in-chief for a long period in time. The ''Stuttgarter Zeitung'' ("Stuttgart newspaper") is a German language, German-language daily newspaper (except Sundays) edited in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, with a run of about 200,000 sold copies daily. History and profile It was first edited on 18 September 1945, just a few months after the end of the World War II, Second World War. With northern and central Württemberg being part of the Allied-occupied Germany#American Zone of Occupation, American occupation zone from 1945 to 1949, it was the U.S. Information Control Division that issued the first publishing licence to the editors Josef Eberle, Karl Ackermann and Henry Bernhard during the first years of the paper's existence.
