Mustapha Essaïd
Mustapha Essaïd (born 20 January 1970 in El Ksiba) is a retired Moroccan-born French runner who specialized in the 5000 metres and cross-country running. In 1998, Essaïd set a national outdoor record of 7.30.78 of 3 000 m event in Monaco. This is the still standing national record. He competed in the men's 5000 metres at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. An athlete is most commonly a person who competes in one or more sports involving physical strength, speed, power, or endurance. Sometimes, the word "athlete" is used to refer specifically to sport of athletics competitors, i.e. including track and field and marathon runners but excluding e.g. swimmers, footballers or basketball players. However, in other contexts (mainly in the United States) it is used to refer to all athletics (physical culture) participants of any sport.
