Mussel Creek is a small stream, about long, in Curry County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It arises in the Siskiyou Mountains and flows generally west to its confluence with Myrtle Creek in the Arizona Beach State Recreation Site. The creeks flow under U.S. Highway 101 and through the park, where they merge and enter the Pacific Ocean about south of Port Orford. Curry County is the southwesternmost county in the U.S. state of Oregon located on the South Coast. As of the 2020 census, the population was 23,446. The county seat is Gold Beach. The county is named for George Law Curry, a two-time governor of the Oregon Territory. Curry County includes the Brookings, OR Micropolitan Statistical Area. The Siskiyou Mountains are a Coast Ranges, coastal subrange of the Klamath Mountains, and located in northwestern California and southwestern Oregon in the United States. They extend in an arc for approximately from east of Crescent City, California, northeast along the north side of the Klamath River into Josephine County, Oregon, Josephine and Jackson County, Oregon, Jackson counties in Oregon. The mountain range forms a barrier between the Drainage basin, watersheds of the Klamath River to the south and the Rogue River (Oregon), Rogue River to the north. Arizona Beach State Recreation Site
Arizona Beach State Recreation Site is a Oregon state park in Curry County, Oregon, in the United States. The beach is at an average elevation of . Public recreational facilities at Arizona Beach State Recreation Site include a parking lot for beach access, observation areas for viewing marine mammals and birds and tables for picnicking. The park is open year-round. Arizona Beach was in private hands until 2008 and was the site of a campground. Since it was acquired by the state at a cost of $3 million in 2008 the campground was torn down as it did not meet state requirements. The beach is on the Pacific Ocean and gets its name from the warm temperatures that are unusual for the Oregon coast. The area surrounding Arizona Beach is rugged.
