Munruben is a rural locality in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. Once a rural community, it has been developed into a low density residential community. In the , Munruben had a population of 2,871 people. Geography The Mount Lindesay Highway (formerly the New England Highway) passes through the suburb. The area known as Jerry's Downfall is notorious for bogging and flooding. History From 1840 to 1860 William Norris had a sheep station of between the Oxley Creek and the Logan River which he called ''Mun Rubens'' which is believed to be derived from the Bundjalung language name for a local lagoon''.'' The locality was officially named in 1991 (when it was in the Shire of Beaudesert). On 6 July 1882, Norris's daughter Emma Evans and three of her children (Richard William, Ruth and Edward) drowned in the Logan River while crossing the river in a dinghy which was in poor condition. The Logan River ( Yugambeh: ''Dugulumba'') is a perennial river located in the Scenic Rim, Logan and Gold Coast local government areas of the South East region of Queensland, Australia. The -long river is one of the dominant waterways in South East Queensland that drains the southern ranges of the Scenic Rim and empties into Moreton Bay after navigating the City of Logan, a major suburban centre located south of Brisbane. New England Highway
New England Highway is an long highway in Australia running from Yarraman, north of Toowoomba, Queensland at its northern end to Hexham at Newcastle, New South Wales at its southern end. It is part of Australia's National Highway system, and forms part of the inland route between Brisbane and Sydney. The Darling Downs Gazette And General Advertiser
The ''Darling Downs Gazette'' was a newspaper published from 1848 to 1922 in Drayton and Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia. History ''The Darling Downs Gazette and General Advertiser'' was founded in 1858 by Arthur Sidney Lyon. The first issue of four pages was published on Thursday 10 June 1858 from ''Willow Cottage'', a wooden shanty, in Drayton. After two years, it was purchased by W. H. Byers. Later, William Henry Traill was the proprietor for a brief period. While Drayton, being established in 1842, was the first substantial settlement on the Darling Downs, by the 1860s it was clear that it would be overtaken by nearby Toowoomba in size and importance, leading to Byers relocating the Darling Downs Gazette to Toowoomba in 1861. Park Ridge is a suburb in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. In the , Park Ridge had a population of 2,503 people. Geography Park Ridge lies to Logan's west and enjoys a rural setting. There are acreage properties buffered by bushland. Part of the suburb's western boundary is marked by the Mount Lindesay Highway. History Logan Ridges was the original name for the suburb of Park Ridges. This was until the early 1890s, when the post office changed its name to reflect the park-like nature of the area. Early settlers hailed from Yorkshire and timber-getting and farming were the primary industries during the 1890s and remained important through to the early 20th century, when tobacco growing was taken on. ''The Northern Miner'' is an online newspaper published in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia. History ''The Northern Miner'' was first established in 1872 by James Smith Reid. Reid established the paper only eight months after the discovery of gold in the regional Queensland town Charters Towers. In 1876 Reid sold the paper to Thadeus O'Kane. As the owner and editor of the Northern Miner, O’Kane devoted himself and the paper to improving the lives of the miners working in Charters Towers. ''The Logan Witness'' was a weekly English-language newspaper published in Beenleigh, Queensland, Australia from 9 February 1878 to 10 June 1893. The paper was four pages, double demy (57 cm x 90 cm) in size and issued on a Saturday. History Established by proprietors William Watts and Edward Powell in 1878, ''The Logan Witness'' was the first newspaper to emanate from the Beenleigh district and was originally published as ''The Logan Witness and Southern Districts Advertiser''. Initially optimistic that the rapid advancement of the district entitled it to journalistic representation, the paper struggled financially and was sold to Mr John Hinchcliffe by April 1879. Logan City is a local government area situated within the south of the Brisbane metropolitan area in South East Queensland, Australia. The Oxley Creek ( Yagara: ''Benarrawa'') is a creek that is a tributary of the Brisbane River, located in suburban Brisbane in the South East region of Queensland, Australia. Rising in the low hills in Scenic Rim Region, water from the large catchment area flows into Oxley Creek as it flows through the western parts of Logan City and into Brisbane.
