Multinational Joint Task Force
The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) is a combined multinational formation, comprising units, mostly military, from Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria. It is headquartered in N'Djamena and is mandated to bring an end to the Boko Haram insurgency. History The task force was first organised as a solely Nigerian force in 1994, during the administration of Sani Abacha, to "checkmate banditry activities and to facilitate free movement" along its northern border. In 1998 it was expanded to include units from neighbouring Chad and Niger with the purpose of dealing with common cross-border security issues in the Lake Chad region, with its headquarters in the town of Baga, Borno State. Islamist groups grew and expanded their operations during the 2000s and early 2010s. Ibrahim Sallau Ali
Ibrahim Sallau Ali is a major general officer in the Nigerian Army, currently serving as the Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force in N'Djamena. He assumed this position after serving as the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force in North East Operation Hadin Kai. Early life Ali was born on 16 November 1970 in Nasarawa Kano State, Nigeria, to Alhaji Sallau Ali and Hajiya Aishatu Ibrahim. He is from Municipal Local Government Area of Kano State. Chief Of Army Staff (Nigeria)
The chief of army staff (COAS) has been the title of the professional head of the Nigerian Army since 1966. Prior to 1966, the title was General Officer Commanding, Nigerian Army (GOCNA). Since 1980, the post has been immediately subordinate to the chief of defence staff, the post held by the head of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The position is often occupied by the most senior officer appointed by the president. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (born 24 November 1960) is a retired Nigerian army lieutenant general, former Chief of Army Staff (appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2015), and Nigeria's Ambassador to the Republic of Benin. Fela Aníkúlápó Kútì (born Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti; 15 October 1938 – 2 August 1997) was a Nigerians, Nigerian musician and political activist. Dr. Bekolari Ransome-Kuti (2 August 1940 – 10 February 2006) was a Nigerian physician known for his work as a human rights activist. Early life Ransome-Kuti was born in Abeokuta, Nigeria. His mother Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti opposed indiscriminate taxation of women by the British colonial government. Enitan Ransome-Kuti
Enitan Ransome-Kuti (born 1964) is a retired Nigerian Army one star general and son of the late human rights activist Beko Ransome-Kuti. In 2015, he served as the Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force. Early life and education Enitan was born in Lagos. He is an alumnus of the Nigerian Military School, Zaria and the Nigeria Defence Academy where he had his formal education before receiving his commission into the Nigerian Army. Career After rising through the ranks of the army to a brigadier general, Enitan was appointed Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force. Brig
A brig is a type of sailing vessel defined by its rig: two masts which are both square rig, square-rigged. Brigs originated in the second half of the 18th century and were a common type of smaller merchant vessel or warship from then until the latter part of the 19th century. In commercial use, they were gradually replaced by Fore-and-aft rig, fore-and-aft rigged vessels such as Schooner, schooners, as owners sought to reduce crew costs by having rigs that could be handled by fewer men. Ansaru
The Vanguard for the Protection of Muslims in Black Africa ( '), better known as Ansaru and less commonly called al-Qaeda in the Lands Beyond the Sahel, is an Islamic fundamentalist Jihadist militant organisation originally based in the northeast of Nigeria. Originally a faction of Boko Haram, the group announced in 2012 that it had pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda and was independent. Despite this, Ansaru and other Boko Haram factions continued to work closely together until the former increasingly declined and stopped its insurgent activities in 2013. The group was revived in 2020, and has been involved in the Nigerian bandit conflict. Ideology Unlike Boko Haram, whose ideology is focused on Nigeria, Ansaru is more internationally orientated.
