Mulligan's
Mulligan's is a pub in Dublin, Ireland which opened on Poolbeg Street in 1854. History The first Mulligan's was established on Thomas Street, Dublin in 1782. The Mulligan family moved their business to several different premises, before leasing the present building in 1854 at 8/9 Poolbeg Street, Dublin 2. Mick Smyth bought the pub from John Mulligan in 1932. Ownership later passed to Smyth's nephews, Con and Tommy Cusack, before passing to Tommy Cusack's sons. The former Theatre Royal in Hawkins Street was near Mulligan's, and the pub walls are decorated with associated posters, photographs, and showbills dating back to the early nineteenth century, as well as an autographed photograph of Judy Garland, who performed in the theatre and drank at the pub. The pub is mentioned briefly in James Joyce's short story, '' Counterparts'', and was used as a filming location on a number of occasions. 1849 Grand National
The 1849 Grand National Steeplechase was the 11th official annual running of a handicap steeplechase horse race at Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool on Wednesday, 28 February. It attracted a field of twenty-four competitors for a prize valued at £825. The race was won by Tom Cunningham on Finch Mason's Peter Simple, having also trained the horse himself. Cunningham wore Finch Mason's colours of green silks with salmon sleeves and pink cap. The horse won in a time of 10 minutes 56 seconds, seventeen seconds slower than the course record set two years earlier. For the second consecutive year there were three equine fatalities during the race, taking the number of fatalities in the history of the race to eight and leading to heavy criticism in the press. The owner was not the same Finch Mason who achieved fame painting racing scenes in the latter half of the 19th century. Leading contenders Prince George was sent off as the 5/1 favourite as the mount of Tom Olliver ...

Mulligan (games)
A mulligan is a second chance to perform an action, usually after the first chance went wrong through bad luck or a blunder. Its best-known use is in golf, whereby it refers to a player being allowed, only informally, to replay a stroke, although that is against the formal rules of golf. The term has also been applied to other sports, games, and fields generally. The origin of the term is unclear. Possible origin The earliest known use of the term is in a 1931 issue of the ''Detroit Free Press'', somewhat predating the earliest citation in the ''Oxford English Dictionary'' from 1936. The most common explanation of the term's origin is that it was named after a golfer with the surname ''Mulligan'', the main candidates being either David Mulligan or John A. "Buddy" Mulligan; however, no connection with these figures is recorded until several decades after the term entered common use. In 2017, Peter Reitan suggested that the term first arose in baseball sports writing and was associat ...

Mulligan Family Fun Center
The Mulligan Family Fun Center, colloquially referred to as Mulligan's, is a family entertainment center and amusement park in Murrieta, Riverside County, originally specializing in miniature golf. Before 2021, it operated two other locations in Southern California, at Torrance and Palmdale. Mulligan was founded by Georgia Claessens, daughter of South Bay real estate developer Walter Storm, in 1991. Built in Torrance, California, the initial property was repurposed from a private Storm family tract, used to store recreational vehicles, into a driving range. The site expanded around the driving range, which operated until 2007, adding two miniature golf courses, an arcade, a batting cage, and an indoor restaurant. Proving successful in coming years, the business grew further through the 1990s and 2000s, adding more attractions, such as kart racing and laser tag. Two Mulligan locations were established elsewhere in the region: Murrieta in 1996 and Palmdale in 2005. Claessens ...
