Muara Badak
Muara Badak () is a district of Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. As of 2023, it was inhabited by 50,435 people, and currently has the total area of 781.52 km2. Its district seat is located at the village of Muara Badak Ulu. Muara Badak borders Samarinda (specifically the district of North Samarinda) to the southwest. Natural gas reserve was discovered by Huffco in 1972, and as a result, the district gave its name to state-owned corporation Badak LNG, who is active at Bontang. History Although the name Muara Badak literally translates to "Rhinoceros Estuary", some theories disputed this etymology, due to the fact that there is no clear evidence about the existence of rhinoceros there. North Samarinda
North Samarinda (, ) is a district of Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. As of 2023, it was inhabited by 112,076 people, and currently has a total area of 229.52 km2. Its district seat is located at the village of Lempake. The district was formed on 11 June 1996 from the northern parts of Samarinda Ilir, and it initially consisted of 6 villages. On 14 December 2010, the district of Sungai Pinang, Samarinda, Sungai Pinang was separated from North Samarinda. Previously, its district seat was located at Sungai Pinang Dalam. Marang Kayu () is a district of Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. As of 2023, it was inhabited by 29,244 people, and currently has the total area of 866.20 km2. Its district seat is located at the village of Sebuntal. Marang Kayu borders Bontang to the northeast and East Kutai Regency to the northwest. Badak LNG, or formerly known as PT Badak Natural Gas Liquefaction or PT Badak NGL, is the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) company in Indonesia and one of the largest LNG plants in the world. Telephone numbers in Indonesia have different systems for land lines and mobile phones: land lines use area codes, while mobile phones do not.
